|tchellina||I am having a lot of fun with the training system. It is really great. Kudos!
However, i have similar questions on two problems.
Lesson 06C, 1090_02.sgf
Lesson 06C, 1090_03a.sgf
Because of the training system, I know how to play them, i remember the sequence. However, I would like to know how to count the liberties, if i encounter similar situation in my games.
|Darrell Malick||Hi Tchellina,
I'll take a crack at explaining how to count problem 2. To start, Black makes an eye and White makes the forcing move and takes the second eye away. That gives this position:
White will have to fill the eye last, so has to fill all the outside liberties first. So it will take White 4 moves (numbered 1-4) to remove the Black stones. White has only 4 liberties left at that point (labeled A-D). So the liberty count is 4 to 4. Whoever moves first will win the fight.
Does that help?
Yes, that does help. I would never have thought to count that way but it makes sense.
Thanks a lot :-)
|Darrell Malick||my pleasure :)|
